Charlotte Free

The trend for shocking coloured hair was all over London Fashion Week. Dip-dyed tones were most frequently spotted but the colour of the season is most definitely bubble-gum pink.

American model, Charlotte Free, whose bleached pink hair made her a must-book girl for A/W 2011 – 2012 catwalk shows, is the face for the look which is now set to go main stream. Free was named by punky-street designer Jeremy Scott as his new muse and she walked for a broad range of London shows including Topshop Unique, Danielle Scutt and also opened Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label show.

Aside from her catwalk outings, Free has also been featured by Interview magazine and named model of the month by Japanese Vogue, credentials that are sure to guarantee plentiful editorial coverage for the coming season. Free’s success is all the more inspiring as she measures in at a mere 5’7’’, minute by catwalk standards. The move to an inclusion of more ‘character’ models defined by an attitude and personality is a big trend internationally, and it’s little wonder that Free’s grungy look has gained so many fans in London
